JetSMART, a Chilean capital company that operates domestic flights in Argentina and regional flights from the country, has joined the world's leading aviation organization, strengthening its international projection and positioning itself as a key player in South America. With this membership, JetSMART adds its voice to industry discussion spaces, contributing a complementary perspective from an innovative and rapidly growing business model in the region. The announcement was made via a virtual conference with specialized media, including the Argentine News Agency, held at the offices of JetSMART Airlines in Chile, and featured the participation of IATA's Vice President for the Americas, Peter Cerdá, and the airline's CEO and founder, Estuardo Ortiz. This incorporation will allow JetSMART to actively contribute, along with other industry actors, to the discussion of common sector challenges, sharing learnings from its experience as an Ultra-Low Cost and rapidly growing airline in South America. In this initial stage, the IATA membership includes JetSMART's operations in Chile, Argentina, and Peru, while Colombia is advancing in the process, with an estimated conclusion in the near future. "We are proud and grateful to be part of IATA, and we especially value the opportunity to contribute our vision as an Ultra-Low Cost airline, with the most modern fleet in the region, an efficient cost structure, and a strong focus on expanding regional connectivity," said Estuardo Ortiz. "Its innovative approach and dedication to safe and accessible aviation strengthen our shared mission. The perspective of new business models is key to jointly addressing the challenges of connectivity, efficiency, and aviation development in South America." Previously, JetSMART obtained the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification, which accredits compliance with the world's most demanding operational and safety standards. Both milestones reflect the maturity of the company's processes and its culture of continuous improvement, with an operation aligned with the best practices of the international air transport industry. "As an organization that prioritizes safety and promotes global best practices, we look forward to accompanying the airline in its continuous growth and its commitment to connecting communities throughout the region and the world," Ortiz stated. "We believe that from this different and complementary perspective, we can contribute, along with other airlines, to building a better future for the airline industry in South America." In turn, Peter Cerdá indicated: "we are pleased to welcome JetSMART as a new member of IATA. We are delighted that they are joining the IATA family." IATA brings together most of the world's air traffic and promotes reference frameworks, processes, and standards that facilitate interoperability between airlines, enabling greater collaboration, operational efficiency, and a more integrated air transport industry for a better passenger experience.
